ARTIST STATEMENT

In form of sculptures, paintings and installations I evoke conversations and draw parallels between the natural world and the human experience.  The themes that fuel my research are resilient, relational and deeply intimate. Characterised by a dark,  earthy color palette and in symbiosis with gentle, playful expressions my odyssey is to mirror the mystery and paradox in the emotional landscape of being human. In figures disguised as floral bodies I do not paint people, but merely the metaphor of them. Without taking from their significance I intentionally remove aspects of race, gender and appearance, focusing solely of the essence of what makes us the same.
